GENERALThe most recent snapshot of the clean energy industry in North Carolina showed more than 1,200 firms in the state, including:

  • a growing solar sector with national caliber solar developers, over 600 MW of capacity, over 23,000 FTE jobs, and a varied supply chain including module and array manufacturers
  • a smart grid sector with over 1,000 jobs, micro-grid demonstration, advanced training programs, and highly regarded product manufacturing and research entities
  • a building efficiency sector with over 11,000 jobs, many LEED certified buildings, and strong growth potential

North Carolina has a robust clean energy industry, with over 23,000 full-time jobs and $4.8 billion in annual revenue. What can we do to support new economic development opportunities in North Carolina's clean energy sectors?

COMMUNITY FORUM. Join us for the Fayetteville/Sandhills Region Community Forum to discuss the best strategies to grow North Carolina's clean energy industry.  Your input will be shared at a statewide dialogue, and ultimately in developing a clean energy roadmap for both North Carolina and the Southeast - all part of an initiative funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and aimed at boosting America's manufacturing competitiveness.

This forum is a tool for the Fayetteville/Sandhills region to:

  • galvanize action in our community around clean energy
  • discuss economic development issues around clean energy
  • have a better understanding of issues facing Fayetteville/Sandhills regional businsesses in both the commercial and defense marketplace
  • create new networks and partnerships
  • and facilitate a serious discussion on the future of clean energy in North Carolina.
