Last year, the North Carolina General Assembly authorized an innovative financing mechanism for commercial property owners to make energy efficiency, renewable energy, water, and resiliency improvements to their properties called Commercial Property Assessed Capital Expenditure (C-PACE) through Senate Bill 802 / SL 2024-44.

In the latest C-PACE news, the Economic Development Partnership of NC (EDPNC) has published its North Carolina C-PACE webpage, which includes details about the state’s new C-PACE program and important program information through the approved toolkit. EDPNC’s staff shared that they would continue updating the webpage as local governments approve their resolutions to participate in the C-PACE program.

New Hanover County and Wilmington were the first to approve resolutions, and several others are in the process of getting resolutions added to upcoming county commission and city council meeting agendas. NCSEA is excited about this next step and will continue to support local governments and commercial property owners in making this new program a success.
